A short paid spike, real work on the real problem, to find the edges before anyone commits to a number. That is what makes the estimate honest. The build works the same way: spec-driven, so the spec is approved before the code is written and the acceptance criteria are agreed before anything ships. And if the work ever starts to outrun it, you hear from us early, and we decide together whether to push on or stop. Nobody gets a surprise bill.
